Strabismus surgery is a procedure on the eye and is routinely performed on both children and adults. In children, anesthesia is necessary, in adults, depending on the type of strabismus, it can also be performed under local anesthesia.
In preparation for strabismus surgery, we place great emphasis on accurate strabismus angle measurements, which serve as the basis for dosing of the strabismus surgery. In addition to straight and oblique eye muscle surgery, we also perform muscle transposition surgery and gaze shifting surgery for nystagmus (eye tremor). For isolated strabismus, we use a single Botox injection into the eye muscles instead of surgery.
